Job Description:

The Associate Design & Layout Specialist is responsible for items related to the architecture and design of either the RaceTrac or RaceWay divisions. This individual supports the Senior Manager of Store Planning in creating conceptual designs for store layouts (80%), millwork (15%) and fixtures (5%). This individual also collaborates frequently with various internal teams to ensure layout designs support the needs of our stores and also works on ad hoc projects crucial to the space planning needs of the fleet.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains all layouts for the fleet; updating internal drawings as needed.
  • Coordinates with internal partners to gather design requirements, merchandising requests and operational needs for store remodels, ad hoc projects, and store prototype development.
  • Assists with conceptual layout design and 3D modeling.
  • Assists with reworking and modifying layouts based on comments from internal teams and project sponsors.
  • Collaborates with Space Management Team to ensure layouts support planogram execution and merchandising goals.
  • Attends site visits as necessary.
  • Prioritizes and responds to requests, problems or questions that arise during the concept development phase of a project.
  • Assists in transitioning a project into the design development phase, turning over approved layouts to the Implementation team within Architecture & Design.
  • Assists with the design of millwork and fixtures.

Meets with external vendors and attends industry events related to store planning, millwork, and fixture design

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field preferred
  • 1+ years design experience in a retail environment preferred
  • Previous project management experience a plus
  • AutoCAD, Revit & production proficiency required
  • MS Office Suite proficiency required
  • Sketchup & JDA familiarity a plus
