Job Description:

The Associate Project Manager, Food Innovation, will be responsible for managing the full life-cycle of Food Innovation processes and programs from ideation to creation and in-store application to ultimately grow sales and margin. This person is responsible for researching and comprehending current Food Innovation trends, in-store product/service requirements and the process to fulfill those requirements, category needs/obligations and desired margins to ultimately grow sales and margin. This individual supports the Food Program & Offers Category team providing solutions and making decisions to enhance the performance of food and equipment offers, processes, merchandising, promotional, and marketing programs for their respective products. This individual maintains vendor and cross functional relationships, as well as field operations relationships to effectively execute and measure performance of Food Innovation tests. Up to 25% travel may be required.


  • Owns project management of test food offer, equipment, or process from concept to in-store test launch. Monitors and reports the impact of tests from success metrics perspective, including sales/units/margin analytics, operational and logistical impact.
  • Works along side Culinary team to maintain the goals of the Food Innovation business unit.
  • Actively researches industry trends and monitors competitors to be knowledgeable of best practices and new products in the respective food service and beverage platform market.
  • Assures that the respective products, processes, and services are delivered on schedule and meet the desired goals of the tests, as well as the quality standards of the company.
  • Coordinates implementation, training and development of products, processes, and services to the stores (including but not limited to test planograms coordinated with Category owners, test implementation and timeline, item information, etc.).
  • Collaborates with various departments across the organization such as Operations, Food Programs and Offers, Marketing, Distribution, and Demand Planning to execute successful test promotions, as well as to improve current processes.
  • Evaluates internal sales and margin performance to identify opportunities for improvement and introduction of new products and services through close collaboration with FPO Category owners.
  • Serves as a point of contact for vendors, field operations and internal teams for test execution.
  • Conducts research and collaborates with necessary teams (Leadership, Culinary, FPO, Store Operations) to determine the requirements of offerings, including preliminary success metrics, logistics into the store, test product standards, etc. Solicits and compiles feedback from the field and category owners on current and future plans and/or products.
  • Works with supervisor to negotiate for the lowest possible cost for the respective product/service balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.  
  • Supports supervisor to negotiate best terms for Co-Branding partnerships according to brand needs for successful promotions and impactful brand awareness.
  • Ensures issues from field personnel are responded to in a timely fashion and issues are addressed with clear communication and follow up.


  • Degree from a 4-year college or university, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong project management and cross functional team collaboration experience
  • Understanding of concept-to-launch projects logistically, preferably within the Food industry
  • 2+ years experience in Food and/or Logistics industry preferred (Manufacturing, Consumer Packaged Goods, Retail, Foodservice/Restaurant organizations)
  • 2+ years of project management experience preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Access, MS Word and PowerPoint)
  • General understanding of data reporting systems to comprehend, compile and create a story based on performance needs.
