Job Description:

The Business Analysis Manager is responsible for developing and implementing reporting and analysis solutions used to support the RaceTrac retail division. This individual uses a blend of their business/financial acumen and their analytical/project management skills to perform and manage analysis, bringing insights driven by “the numbers/the data” to the company’s most strategic retail business initiatives.  The successful Business Analysis Manager will manage and successfully increase our competency in the execution, management, and measurement of the business through reporting, dashboarding, and analysis. This individual will endeavor to a high degree of technical ability, enjoy communicating complex data driven insights to audiences ranging from the C-Suite to new to the workforce members of RaceTrac, and will enjoy a role as a “player-coach” for the team’s analysts.


  • Provides oversight of existing reports and dashboards, works to continuously underwrite the quality of that reporting and its sources of data.  Works to improve and add new data to those reports and dashboards.
  • Leads delivery of ad-hoc strategic requests, examples of those requests include analyzing new to market food programs, review of the company’s field pay plan, and strategic review of our pricing strategies.
  • Leads analysis of data from various sources to drive the retail business forward in areas such as retail pricing, demand forecasting, and promotional analysis.
  • Leads the support of various merchandising categories and ensures the proper analytics and data are available.
  • Provides research and analytical support to internal customers including, but not limited to: financial analysis, data analysis, trend identification, as well as monitoring and summarizing the progress of promotions. 
  • Leads delivery of detailed analyses to Senior Leadership regarding weekly and monthly financial performance.
  • Works to effectively integrate the Business Analysis and Category Management functions and proactively engages with product decision makers and becomes an integral part of the insights used. 
  • Assesses current Business Analysis processes and designs new methods to enhance analytics for internal customers.
  • Uses various data sources and tools like syndicated data, loyalty data, forecasting software and sales data to help drive better decision making among the category and marketing teams.
  • Tactfully stands for unbiased analysis.
  • Oversees the daily operations of the Business Analysis team. Helps prioritize, delegate, and oversee the work of analysts to ensure initiatives are aligned with the department and company’s goals.
  • Mentors, and helps to develop a team of Business Analysts. Serves as a direct reference and knowledge expert for all escalated issues.


  • Demonstrated history of strong business acumen required
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; a degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years experience in related field or position preferred
  • Proven experience performing business analysis or financial/statistical data in a retail environment preferred
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, PowerBI, Tableau, or similar business analysis/intelligence tools preferred
  • Knowledge of syndicated data like IRI and Nielsen a plus
