Job Description

The Point of Sale Hardware Engineer II is responsible for the design, development and performance of the retail point of sale hardware solutions across all stores including point of sale environment, pin-pads, self-checkout, pump technology and new emerging technology. POS Hardware Engineer is responsible for ensuring the highest levels of performance and efficiency of the solution. The role is accountable for hardware evaluation, imaging, and ensuring stability with technologies in the retail environment. Primary responsibilities will be the development and maintenance of hardware images for new hardware, creation of documentation, development and deployment of update packages to all hardware, and driving projects forward. Up to 10% travel required.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Ensures proposed and current hardware architectures are aligned with security governance and architecture standards.
  • Responsible for resolving escalation of complex issues as needed to ensure timely resolution of issues, perform root cause analysis & implement proactive preventative measures.
  • Work with solutions managers, security and architects to develop, test, implement and support new hardware capabilities to drive efficiencies for store teams and seamless experiences for guests.
  • Plan and execute major platform, service packs and operating system upgrades across all environments in conjunction with IT, 3rd party vendors and business stakeholders.
  • Create, maintain and communicate support documentation for all hardware for support teams.
  • Address security standards and compliance requirements such as Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance and standards for Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Evaluate new hardware products to support new business initiatives.
  • Support / Maintain current and future hardware images on a quarterly basis, ensuring all support and 3rd parties utilize the latest images.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Technology preferred
  • 5+ years of hardware imaging experience
  • 3+ years of retail systems software application experience
  • Effective oral & written communication
  • Experience in automation and performance testing
  • Experience in retail POS and Payments
  • Preferred experience in fuel systems and pump technology
