Job Requirements

• Oversees the entire lifecycle of Real Estate transactions, from pre-contract to post-closing.
• Oversees and delegates tasks to a team of Real Estate Paralegals. 
• Drafts and negotiates contracts and leases for the acquisition and sale of improved and unimproved commercial real estate; drafts and negotiates easements and other documents necessary for the use and development of properties; occasionally assists in drafting and negotiating loan and sale-leaseback documents.
• Serves as a point of contact for high impact issues as well as escalated title and contract conflicts.
• Acts as one of the organization’s knowledge experts and internal consultants for all legal matters relating to the acquisition and disposition of Real Estate.
• Works closely with Real Estate, Engineering, Construction, Tax and Finance personnel to provide legal services and advice.  
• Monitors and communicates developments in relevant law, regulations and interpretations with a particular emphasis on real estate.
• Evaluates practices and processes and recommends changes as needed.
• Supervises any required real estate work by outside counsel.
• Oversees condemnation and eminent domain matters and supervises outside counsel.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college required
• Juris Doctor (or equivalent) Degree from an accredited college or university required
• Current, active license to practice law required
• 4+ years experience in commercial real estate with a focus on acquisition and development required
• Extensive knowledge of and proficiency in Real Estate contracts, negotiations, and legal transactions required
